Parental Fees

What are Parental Fees?
Each year parental fees are collected by counties. Any annual amount collected in excess of the base amount established in FY 1991 will be paid to the collecting county at the beginning of the next fiscal year. Modifications to the parental fees tracking reports ensure that information from both the Automated Child Support Enforcement System (ACSES) and the County Financial Management System(CFMS) are included. Refunds to the counties will be issued by the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) Division of Accounting.
How Can Retained Parental Fees
Be Spent?
Pursuant to Section 26-5-104 (2) C.R.S., counties may expend retained funds for certain child welfare and juvenile delinquency services. Any money retained by each county pursuant to this subsection (2) may be used for child welfare services directed toward early intervention, placement prevention, and family preservation or any other program funded pursuant to sections 19-2.5-302, 19-2.5- 1404, and 19-2.5-1407.
